Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Festival
Wedell-Williams Aviation & Cypress Sawmill Museum 118 Cotten Road, Patterson, Louisiana 70392
The exhibits within the Wedell-Williams Aviation & Cypress Sawmill Museum seem incongruous, but the aviation/cypress mill collaboration is just a reflection of the wealthy man whose business and personal interests put Patterson, La., on the map, at least as far as these two industries go. Harry Williams was a lumber magnate who made a fortune milling cypress; he used that fortune to fund his passion for aviation, building planes with his friend Jimmie Wedell that consistently won air races. The museum—one of nine managed by the Louisiana State Museum system—is a much-overlooked gem.
Today, amidst the gleaming planes and industrial equipment, the museum will be hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Festival. This will be a fun-filled, family-oriented day with activities including an Easter Egg hunt (tiered for different ages), spacewalks and slides, and photographs with the Easter Bunny. Food and drinks will also be available. Participants should remember to bring along your Easter baskets. 10:30 am–noon at 118 Cotten Road. $5. (985) 399-1268. louisianastatemuseum.org.
