Feliciana Wildlife Expo
Go wild learning about native fauna at this expo
Bob R. Jones Idlewild Research Station 4419 Idlewild Road, Clinton, Louisiana 70722
The Feliciana Wildlife Expo is back at the beautiful 1,800-acre Bob R. Jones Idlewild Research Station in Clinton, with lots of ground to cover. The expo includes presentations on diseases in Whitetail deer, timber management for wildlife, the snakes of Louisiana, falconry, the Louisiana black bear, the mission of the Bob R. Jones Wildlife Management Institute, and other nature-related topics. Beyond the lectures, there will be field demonstrations of mist netting, banding songbirds, trapping feral hogs, wildlife food plots, and processing feral swine safely as well as 4-H shooting sports and AgMagic educational presentations.
And still there's more: for the early birds to the event, birding and searches for indigenous reptiles and amphibians on the property; nature walks will take the attendees off "the beaten track" to identify native plants; and all-ages activities and displays will touch on all things native to Louisiana. Presented by East Feliciana Parish Tourist Commission, the LSU AgCenter, the Bob R. Jones Wildlife Research Institute and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Food and drink furnished by area churches. 9 am–4 pm. Free and open to the public. For a more detailed schedule of events, visit lsuagcenter.com.
