Virtual Open Mic with Festival of Words

For fifteen years, Grand Coteau has hosted the Festival of Words, a literature-lover's event featuring writers, musicians, and storytellers from around the area. Now, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the creative community will gather online. The Pieces of Hope Virtual Open Mic is a two-hour event featuring twenty writers and musicians, each performing a piece of writing for five minutes. Performers hail from Lafayette, New Orleans, New York, and even England, with the show featuring special readings by the Poet Laureate of Louisiana, John Warner Smith; graphic memoirist Robin Ha; and Poet/musician Cornelius Eady. Also featured are James Blanchard, Megan Breaux, Melissa Bonin, Lauri Brinkhaus, Brenda Calhoun, Jim Clinton, Laurie Daly, Charles Garrett, Lori Henderson, Shya Hebert, Dr. Godfrey Henry, Kathryn Krotzer Laborde, James McDowell, Valentine Pierce, Charlie Rauh, Margaret Simon. So make yourself a drink, grab some cheese and crackers, and sit back to enjoy some exquisite performances that will soothe, entertain, and enlighten.
