Leave the X-Men to the megaplex. Each month, the Manship Theatre offers a slate of films, from modern classics to engaging new documentaries and locally-produced stories. Masks are required in all Manship Theatre spaces, and can be removed to eat or drink once seated. Here's what's in store this month:
October 8: The Charmed Life of Fig Dauphine (2021): A murder mystery led by a child fortune-teller from New Orleans, who leads her teenage sidekick on various escapades. Filmed in New Orleans, Natchez, Baton Rouge, and Denham Springs. Featuring a Q&A with the filmmakers afterwards. 7:30 pm. $9.50.
October 14: The Lost Leonardo (2021): The inside story behind the most expensive painting ever sold, the Salvator Mundi. 7:30 pm. $9.50.
October 22: The Velvet Underground (2021): The story of one of rock and roll's most influential bands. 7:30 pm. $9.50.
October 28: Without Getting Killed or Caught (2021): The story of Texas songwriter Guy Clark. 7:30 pm. $14.
October 29: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975): A flat tire, an eerie mansion, lost innocence, and rock and roll. 10:30 pm. $17.
