Flowering Shrubs and Native Trees

Need help nurturing your garden? Never fear—the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners are happy to help, with two free lectures this evening at the Zachary branch library.

In "Flowering Shrubs to Enhance Your Landscape," Master Gardener Kathy Morris will offer a glimpse of the wide variety of shrubs that thrive in this area, and explain which selections are most appropriate for sun or shade. Master Gardener Bob Dillemuth leads the evening's second lecture, “Native Trees for Your Home Landscape,” in which he encourages homeowners to select trees that are native to this region because they are naturally equipped to handle the heat and humidity of the Gulf South and are resistant to many insects and diseases that plague trees introduced from other regions.
