Lt. Gov. Nungesser, LA State Museums, and the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum invite you to join them for the reception of the newest exhibition opening at the Capitol Park Museum, A Colorful World of Black & White: Fonville Winans, Tuesday, July 14. A gifted, amiable and inquisitive photographer, Theodore "Fonville" Winans had an intuitive eye for composition and an innate ability to connect with his subjects, revealing both their personality and a sense of place. Whether photographing state elected officials, generations of Baton Rouge brides or the backroads and bayous of south Louisiana during the early 1930's, Fonville Winans created a magnificent and monochromatic record of the colorful and complex culture that are the people of our beautiful state. 5 pm–7 pm. The reception, free to attend, includes refreshments and access to the exhibition. Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to and guests are encouraged to wear masks.
