West Baton Rouge Museum 845 North Jefferson Avenue, Port Allen, Louisiana 70767
Charles P. Adams, a native son of Brusly, helped lay the foundation for what would become Grambling State University. A new exhibit at the West Baton Rouge Museum, From Brusly to Grambling: Celebrating the Legacy of Charles P. Adams, will highlight Adams’s journey from Brusly to college at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama and on to Lincoln Parish to establish a much-needed school for African American children. This school eventually became Grambling State University, which recognizes Adams as its first and second-longest-serving president. On display through December 30 at 845 North Jefferson Avenue, Port Allen. westbatonrougemuseum.org.
