If you want to understand Louisiana food, look first at the land. The second annual Garden to Table Symposium, hosted by the Town and Country Garden Club of St. Tammany, at First United Methodist Church, dissects beloved traditions in a series of lectures from speakers including Kevin Belton, Louisiana cookbook author and celebrity TV chef; Trish Aleshire, manager of Rosedown Plantation; Dr. Charles Allen, botanist, author, and foremost authority on edible plants; and the Junior League of Covington’s Roux To Doux cookbook committee, who will prepare recipes from the book featuring locally grown harvest. Astoundingly fresh and exquisitely prepared food will, of course, be served. It's important to set a good example. 10 am–3 pm. $10; includes luncheon.
