The Ascension Parish Master Gardeners Association presents a series of educational workshops with gardening and landscaping tips geared to both novice and advanced gardeners. These workshops, hosted by the Ascension Parish Library, are designed for adults.
• March 12, 6:30 pm, Galvez Branch: Twelve Essential Garden Hand Tools for Home Gardeners: Ascension Parish Master Gardener Richard Babin teaches the ins and outs on the essentials of gardening tools and their proper care. To register call, the Galvez location at (225) 622-3339.
• March 19, 6:30 pm, Dutchtown Branch: Attracting More Wild Birds to your Backyard: Owner of Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop Gina Periou will give tips and advice on how to set up your yard to attract various species of wild birds, discussing feeders, foods, and habitats. • April 23, 6:30 pm, Gonzales Branch: Spring Plant Swap and Gardening Tips & Questions: This is your chance to get all of your gardening questions answered. A panel of Master Gardeners will conduct a question-answer session on a wide range of gardening topics. Then collect new plants to nurture with your knowledge at an old-fashioned plant swap. Bring your own labeled plants, cuttings, bulbs, or seeds to exchange with other local gardeners. To register, call (225) 647-3955.
