Girls Night Out

Metalsmith Becky Burt grew up in Hammond and spent twenty five years in the computer industry in Houston before realizing she craved a more creative environment. After taking classes in stained glass, clay, jewelry, and metal work, she has been a full-time studio artist since returning to Hammond in 2007. Utilizing disparate objects in combination with more traditional metals, the detail of her pieces reveal the perils of our modern "break it and throw it away" society. Her work will be displayed in the Mezzanine Gallery of Hammond Regional Arts Center beginning October 16 with an opening reception from 4-8 pm. hammondarts.org.
