In observance of Native American Heritage Month, panelists will explain and discuss the impacts of climate change on coastal Native communities, the private and public partnerships dedicated to restoring wetlands and protecting sacred spaces, and how we can better identify and solve natural resource issues in Louisiana. The panel will feature Chief Shirell Parfait-Dardar, Grand Caillou/Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw from the First People’s Conservation Council; Theresa Dardar, Pointe-au-Chien from the Lowlander Center; Chief Devon Parfait, Pointe-au-Chien; Dr. Linda Langley, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana; and Dr. Eugene Turner, LSU Boyd Professor, Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences.
