Hilltop Arboretum Spring Garden Tour: Backyard Habitats
Gardens, bringing people and plants together.
Each spring, Hilltop Arboretum leads a look inside the city's most fabulous private gardens. Habitat gardens, the sort that attract bright birds and passing butterflies, are the theme in 2019. The hosts this year include Dick Ehrlicher (5955 College Drive, 70808), who has worked with native plant expert Helen Peebles to develop his property; Country Roads' favorite avian expert Harriett Pooler (2439 Creekwood Drive, 70808); neighbors Dorsey Peek (2409 Creekwood Drive, 70808) and Dr. Lori Byrd (2341 Creekwood Drive, 70808); and Brian Early (2000 Quail Drive, 70808), whose Louisiana Native Plant Garden serves as the entrance of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and fisheries.
1 pm–5 pm for the tour; Hilltop's Hodge Podge Volunteers will sell native plants at the arboretum nursery on the afternoon of the tour. $20. Tickets are available online or at any of the four gardens on the afternoon of the tour. Get more information at (225) 767-6916 or on Hilltop's Facebook page.
