January at the Arboretum

In the beautiful Louisiana State Arboretum along Bayou Chicot, Saturdays in January are blooming with educational opportunities. Events include:

January 4: Become a Junior Ranger (10 am, two thirty-minutes sessions) and Guided Hike (2 pm). 

January 11: Bird Hike (9 am)

January 18: Arbor Day Celebration (10 am–4 pm). The day will begin with an opening ceremony honoring the day and the role of trees in our lives. Then, visit the tree classroom and learn how to plant, prune, and care for trees. Hard-to-find Louisiana native tree saplings will be available to participants throughout the day while supplies last. Nature for Kids (10 am) will also take place.
