Jazz in January

Set up camp for a whole weekend of jazz at Christ Episcopal Church. Friday night features Grammy-nominated Shannon McNally and rhythm-and-blues band The New Orleans Catahoulas, while Saturday celebrates psychedelic soul with Kalu and the Electric Joint, plus the Americana vibes of Birds of Chicago. Then for Sunday morning's jazz masses (9 am and 11:30 am), soul singer and songwriter Erica Falls will pay tribute to the gospel legacy of Aretha Franklin, followed by a sermon by Christ Episcopal Church Rector Rev. Bill Miller on the theme of "R.E.S.P.E.C.T.: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin." The evening concerts begin at 7 pm ($40 each night in advance; $50 at the door); jazz masses are free and open to the public.
