Summer is nature season in Louisiana, and if you brave the mosquitos, there's a host of more interesting, less bitey animals to learn about. Visit the Northlake Nature Center to learn more about some of the more slithery at Snakes of Louisiana with Fred Mattingly. Mattingly, a local community snake enthusiast, at heart, will introduce attendees to Louisiana’s native snakes, featuring guests appearances from his own legless menagerie. 10 am. Free for members, non-members $5. Later that day, change your shoes and swing back by for a line-dancing session at 6 pm.
