Don't lose the romance of actually going out to the theatre. Leave your Wi-Fi behind and head to downtown Baton Rouge. Each month, the Manship Theatre offers a slate of new-release documentaries. Here's what's in store for June:
June 1 & 2: RBG: Follow the rise of Ruth Bader Ginsburg from the child of Russian Jewish immigrant parents in Brooklyn to Supreme Court Justice (with the delightful nickname of "Notorious RBG"). Directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, and co-produced by Storyville Films and CNN Films. 7 pm Friday; 2 pm Saturday.
June 6: Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat: The formative years of graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat are explored through never-before-seen works, writings, and photographs. 7 pm.
June 10: Blood and Steel: Cedar Crest Country Club: Is it a cushy country club in the D.C. suburbs or a skateboarding and punk rock mecca frequented by the likes of Fugazi? Michael Maniglia's new film explores Cedar Crest Country Club i.e. "The Crest." 2 pm.
June 29: Scream for Me Sarajevo: Iron Maiden rocker Bruce Dickinson comes to war-torn 1994 Sarajevo to play a gig. 7:30 pm.
