La Côte en Plein Air
to
Walter Anderson Museum of Art 510 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, Mississippi 39564
Imagine it. Six days on the beach—just you, your brushes, and the gentle nudges of inspiration that the salty sea breeze provides. Surrounded by hundreds of other artists, the air trembling with the energies of artistic freedom, spurred by the tranquility of Mississippi's Gulf Coast.
Join Art Space 86 and the Walter Anderson Museum for the third annual La Côte en Plein Air, a week-long gathering of painters along Mississippi's coastal region. Designed to promote creative fellowship through artistic appreciation of the area's environments, the week includes painting sessions in Gautier, Ocean Springs, Waveland, Gulfport Harbor, Horn Island, and Moss Point. This is a free event, with optional elements available for additional fees, including: Paint the Town plein air competition in the City of Gautier on March 28, a workshop this year by New Orleans artist and native Mississippian Billy Solitario on Horn Island, and a quick draw competition. 8 am–11 am each day. Free to participate; additional charge for Wednesday workshop. See times and details at walterandersonmuseum.org.
