Musicians from near and far converge on the West Baton Rouge Museum and the WBR Parish Community Center for this acoustic folk music festival, themed this year: "Jambalaya Jammin'". Come out to see just what a (lap, hammer, or bowed) dulcimer, claw-hammer banjo, fiddle, ukulele, harmonica, psaltery, mandolin, and autoharp can do in the right hands, while celebrating the annual Lagniappe Dulcimer Fête.
In addition to live music by local and national musicians, there will be over seventy workshops and jam sessions, classes, educational forums, and other events that blend several acoustic musical traditions into one melodic weekend. It all kicks off at noon on Thursday with registrations, pre-fete workshops, dinner, and a concert. Friday's registration opens at 7 am, followed by workshops and jam sessions throughout the day, with breaks for lunch and dinner, and a concert to close out the evening. Saturday closes out the festival with a Gospel jam at 9 am. lagniappedulcimerbr.org.
