Langston Hughes' Black Nativity

This holiday season, New Venture Theatre will once again present Langston Hughes' Black Nativity, a soul-stirring rendition of the Christmas story that fills the air with thrilling voices, exciting dance, and glorious gospel music in a powerful retelling of the Nativity story from an African-American perspective. Often adapted, this one-act version of the production at the LSU Shaver Theatre will take the audience from a traditional black church to an Africanized Jerusalem through dance, spirituals and anthems, and toe-tapping gospel numbers. $25-$30. nvtarts.org.
