Celebrate all things new this spring by picking up a bright new skill. The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge offers unique classes designed for individuals of all backgrounds to expand their horizons. See the schedule below to start re-imagining yourself:
Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Flamenco: Experience the traditional art form of flamenco through storytelling, clapping, singing, and dancing—all while connecting with your little ones. For children ages six months to three years and their caregivers. Classes are free and open to the public. 10 am–10:45 am. Dates: March 19, April 4, and June 4.
Flamenco Dance Class: Explore the rhythms, music, and movement of authentic Flamenco dancing. All levels from beginner to advanced are welcome. Classes are free and open to the public. Ages 18 and older. 6:30 pm–8 pm. Dates: March 21, June 6.
Marvel in Musical Theatre: If broadway musicals make your heart swell and your vocal chords tingle, this one's for you. This four week course focuses on the most significant, influential and genre-defining shows, composers, and lyricists that brought this art form to what it is today. Ages 18 and older. $125 for four sessions. 6 pm–7:30 pm. Dates: March 13, 20, 27, and April 3.
The Fun and Fundamentals of Drawing: Never utter the words "I can't draw" again! Explore fundamental drawing and sketching techniques during this four week course. Each session will build upon the other and utilize a variety of materials. You will leave inspired and equipped to create your own work of art. Ages 18 and older. $125 for four sessions. 6 pm–7:30 pm. Dates: March 11, 18, 25, and April 1.
