Book lovers of all kinds flock to the Louisiana Book Festival each year, but if you're looking for a more writerly experience, make time for the WordShops the day before at the State Library of Louisiana. Outstanding authors of national renown will share their wisdom in a series of workshops dedicated to the various facets of fine writing. $50 per workshop ($10 off if you purchase tickets for two). 

The classes include: 

9 am–noon: Writing Through Your Fears, Regardless with Gerard Collins. 

9 am–noon: After the Draft: Revising, Editing, and Publishing Your Work with Emily Nemens.

1 pm–4 pm: Jumpstart Your Engines Poetry Workshop with Jericho Brown.

1 pm–4 pm: After Craft: The Process of Writing Fiction with Robert Olen Butler.
