Know anyone who's given up drinking for Lent? Designate them the driver and head west for the Louisiana Winter Beer Festival, which promises more than 125 craft beers, ciders, and meads from Louisiana and other American craft breweries at the Historic Courthouse Square and 1911 City Hall in Downtown Lake Charles. Between beverages, visitors will find local food selections, live music, and many of the brewers themselves will be mingling, too. 1 pm–5 pm. $50 general admission gets you a commemorative tasting glass, access to all beers, live music, and food; $100 VIP gets you early entry, access to the 1910 VIP Area, special beer selections, special VIP restrooms, and a commemorative snifter glass.The event is also open to passers-by who would simply like to enjoy the food trucks and live music at no charge. lawinterbeerfest.com.
