Baton Rouge Maker Faire
-
Main Library at Goodwood 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806
The East Baton Rouge Parish Library is inviting high- and low‑tech “makers” to its annual Maker Faire, where the "how to" of everything is explored by crafters, quilters, engineers, and more. This year’s medieval theme brings together history, science, art, and plenty of fun. Try snail jousting, wrap a colorful ribbon around the maypole, and discover medieval armor and battle techniques with Ordo Procinctus. You can also enjoy medieval music with Spiritus Mundi Crescentis and learn about the celestial signs and wonders that fascinated people during the Middle Ages. See centuries-old skills and crafts in action—with mead, soap, and stained glass demonstrations, workshops in chainmail and the art of illuminated manuscripts, and history presentations on medieval kite shields. 10 am–4 pm at the Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Boulevard. Free, though some events require registration. batonrouge.makerfaire.com.
