Monroe Louisiana Museums' Passport to Fun Camp
to
Monroe City of Monroe, Louisiana
This summer, Monroe's nine museums have curated an experience bringing local school children through worlds of Coca-Cola history, local art, African American history, military history, wildlife and gardens, and more over the course of a week. The experience all begins at the Masur and the ULM Natural History Museum, for which the two institutions will partner together to teach campers about the ways art and nature interact through paint and drawing, photography, and more using nature specimens. On Day Two, campers will travel to the NELA African American Heritage Museum, where they will learn about some of Northeast Louisiana's most iconic African American artists, and the Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo. Day Three is all about STEAM and Sensory, with programs produced through the Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum and Preciosu Legacy Archive & Museum. On Thursday, campers will ogle at historic airplanes and local art at The Chennault Museum and ULM's Bry Art Gallery. And it all concludes on Friday at the Biedenharn, where campers will explore the gardens, create their own birdhouse, and make a decorative teacup planter. Ages six to nine. 9 am–noon. $125. masurmuseum.org.
