A Natchez Christmas Carol
Natchez Little Theatre 319 Linton Avenue, Natchez, Mississippi 39121
Natchez Little Theatre has taken a little license with the Charles Dickens classic, here, adapting the quintessential Christmas story to an environment that will be more familiar to most Natchezians than the original. The setting is Natchez; the time: 1869. It has been seven years since Jacob Marley died, leaving his home and his half of the business to his partner, Ebenezer Scrooge. Marley was a stingy old man, so the cold, miserly Scrooge is perfectly happy carrying on in the same tradition. But not for long. Nineteenth-century costumes and traditional Christmas carols, plus original songs written by Layne Taylor and lyricist Chandler Warren, enhance the novelty of this production. Performances at 7:30 pm every Friday and Saturday, December 7—23, with Sunday matinees at 2 pm. 319 Linton Avenue. $20. natchezlittletheatre.org.
