Baton Rouge's innovative contemporary dance theatre company Of Moving Colors will close out its main stage season with a collection of works focusing on Baton Rouge leaders. Tell Me More asks twelve non-dancers to step into the role of "choreographer,"—and grants them creative license to create dance works of their own conception. Honorary choreographers include former NBA player Tyrus Thomas, community planner and activist Boo Thomas, VP of External Affairs for Southern University Robyn Merrick, maker/owner of Mimosa Handcrafted Madeline Ellis, and none other than Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome.
By opening the world of dance to the eyes of Baton Rouge professionals—the possibilities of perspective become infinite. Audiences will enjoy Project Manager at BRAF Lauren Crump's commemoration of her family legacy—a story that spans time from slavery to today. Ochsner physician Kate Freeman experiments with the systems of the human body. And so much more.
The concept follows up on OMC's 2016 premiere of You Tell Me, in which over a dozen community members created dances about everything from travels abroad to social issues to outer space.
7:30 pm at the Manship Theatre. $13–$35. manshiptheatre.org.
