John K. Lawson at the West Baton Rouge Museum
West Baton Rouge Museum 845 North Jefferson Avenue, Port Allen, Louisiana 70767
In collage and poetry, artist John K. Lawson explores his relationship with the blues. The English-born artist has adopted Baton Rouge as home, and his vibrant collage portraits of the area's seminal bluesmen are currently on view at the West Baton Rouge Museum—fitting, as it's in the juke joints of Port Allen where the genre, free from blue laws, truly flourished. Don't miss three opportunities this month to meet Lawson at the museum and hear more from his singular perspective.
