Community History Festival
Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library 13600 Pride-Port Hudson Road, Pride, Louisiana 70770
The Pride-Chaneyville Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library hosts this community history festival each year. It's a day of fun, food, and games. This year's theme is "Looking Back." Expect a day of country fun, food, games, crafts and entertainment. Activities also will include virtual reality gaming, bingo, animal meet-and-greets, a pie judging contest, and a demonstration of the Greater Baton Rouge Model Railroaders' N-Scale train. Enjoy playing needle in a hay stack, life-sized games, and enter a raffle for an American Girl Doll and clothes by the Red Stick Smocking Guild! There’ll be face painting, pumpkin decorating and sack races. Various artists and craftsmen will participate, along with local vendors who’ll be available for the purchase of homemade and handcrafted items. The Louisiana Lagniappe Dulcimers and the Upbeats will provide music, and once an hour it's time for the ever-popular old-fashioned Cake Walk. Revisit the storied past of the Pride-Chaneyville area with everything from railroads to ancestry, the old Country Store, oral histories, roadways, cemeteries, churches, schools, hometown heroes and more. 10 am–2 pm.
