"Protective Styles: Narratives on Black Hair within Contemporary Art" at the Shell Gallery

A new contemporary art exhibition at the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge's Shell Gallery turns to Black hairstyles in celebration of Black history month. Artists from across the United States have contributed works in a variety of mediums to express themes of identity, self-image, and expression. An opening reception will be held February 2 from 6 pm–9 pm, and a panel discussion with curator John Allen and participating artists will take place February 3 from 3 pm–5 pm. Free. artsbr.org.
