Queer Conversations
Even though pride month is technically over, Baton Rouge Pride is continuing their Queer Conversations series for the rest of 2021, with topics ranging from intersectionality to proper pronoun usage. Here are the topics:
July 21: “Sex, Gender Identity, and Sexual Orientation:” Understanding the differences, similarities, and intersectionality of often misunderstood identifiers.
August 18: “Queer-mediation for Educators:” Discussing tips, tricks, and tools for queer or allied educators and support staff for the upcoming academic year.
September 15: “Identity, Religion, and In-between:” Congregating and analyzing the trials and tribulations related to being religious and LGBTQIA+.
October 20: “Holidays and Hardships:” Discussing the stressors of life, identity, and the upcoming holiday season for queer and questioning individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community.
November 17: “HIV Positivity:” Understanding what it means to be HIV positive, prioritizing testing and treatment education, and ending the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS.
December 15: ”RESPECT MY IDENTITY:” Emphasizing the importance of proper name and pronoun usage as well as understanding and normalizing identity diversity.
The community is invited to actively submit recommendation questions, topics, and panelists or moderators to brpride.org for future conversations. "Queer Conversations" is a free event; however, registration is required to attend. brpride.org.
