Fleur de Leaf, llc 2834 S Sherwood Forest Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70817
Learn three different types of dances in this three-hour workshop from this fabulous international touring group, the Rajasthani Caravan!
Chari Dance: During this dance, colorfully dressed, bejeweled women hold earthenware or brass Chari pots on their heads. Often, the Chari are set on fire, and dancers carry flaming pots on their heads without touching it, while performing graceful movements of limbs and deep swirls of knees.
Tera Tali: a seated devotional dance done with Manjeras (swinging cymbals). Learn it with live music by the Ustad Arba Music Group!
Kalbelia and Ghoomar: This dance is fun, lively, folkloric, improvisational and characterized by rhythmic stomps, hip movements and kicks, ever-changing hand movements, spinning, and dancing with partners. It is a dance for fun and celebration. Learn the actual translation along with the dance by Imamddin with live music by Ustad Arba Music Group!
