The Hilliard Art Museum is releasing a new book titled A. Hays Town and the Architectural Image of Louisiana, documenting and celebrating the work of the influential Louisiana architect A. Hays Town in two hundred colorful pages. Tulane Architecture Professor Carol McMichael Reese, who spent five years studying Town's work and the historical influences upon it, wrote the copy to accompany photographs of the buildings by Lafayette-based photographer Philip Gould, who has spent twenty years documenting Town's structures. In addition to preserving Town's legacy in Southern architecture, the book also chronicles the path of the art museum at ULL's transformation into The Hilliard. “Proceeds from the book will support future renovations of the A. Hays Town building on campus of the Hilliard Museum,” said LouAnne Greenwald, director of the Hilliard Art Museum. The book is $45 and available for purchase in the Hilliard Art Museum Store, open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 9 am–5 pm, Wednesdays from 9 am–8 pm and Saturdays from 10 am–5 pm. hilliardmuseum.org.
