Mid-Winter Rose Workshop

The Gulf District of the American Rose Society invites all to a midwinter workshop on rose care at the The American Rose Center in Shreveport's Klima Hall. Members of the American Rose Society, as well as Master Gardeners, home gardeners, and others interested in roses, might enjoy attending this two-day workshop, which covers rose selection, basics of soil and water, interpreting testing results, common pests and diseases, and much more.
The Workshop kicks off with a flower arrangement class at 3 pm on Friday, followed by a wine social and banquet featuring keynote speaker Kristopher Kelley, who will present "Year of the River—How Steam Brought Gardens to the South."
On Saturday, attendees will enjoy a series of talks followed by a luncheon featuring the American Rose Society Gulf District award presentations and announcement of the 2019 Gulf District Rose of the Year. Saturday night will culminate in a lecture from renowned rosarian Paul Zimmerman.
There will be a variety of new roses available for purchase, along with a silent auction. Registration is required: gulfdistrictrose.org.
