Louisiana Public Broadcasting has joined forces with Capitol Park Museum to produce a digital series called Safe Haven: Louisiana's Green Book, and the pair is hosting a free screening to accompany the Smithsonian traveling exhibition The Negro Motorist Green Book that is on display at the museum until November 14. The series documents Co-Producers Kara St. Cyr and Emma Reid's travels throughout Louisiana to the actual businesses and sites relevant to the Green Book, like Dooky Chase's Restaurant in New Orleans, as the pair examines the Jim Crow-era history that originally necessitated the book's publication. St. Cyr and Reid will be present to provide insight and commentary about the filming and experience alongside the screening. Noon–3 pm, or stream online anytime at lpb.org/greenbook.
