Le Semaine de la Francophonie Creative Placemaking Summit, is a traveling summit, bringing mini-conferences to Acadiana communities. Presentations include a range of subjects including tourism, environmental sustainability, economic and social development, government, education, and folklife traditions.
The five-day symposium brings together scholars, artists, scientists, cultural citizens, organizations, and policy makers to discuss ideas of creative placemaking. “Creative placemaking” refers to the idea of using the arts and culture of an area as economic drivers, thereby strengthening a location’s unique identity.
Daily events will take place in different areas around Acadiana, starting in Arnaudville, then moving to New Iberia, Abbeville, Washington, and Lafayette. Stick around for nightly festivities within each community, including NUNU's monthly potluck, a reception at Richard's Sale Barn in Abbeville, a dance with Geno Delafose in Washington, and the culminating week-long Festival Inernational de Louisiane in Lafayette. $10 a day. semaine-francaise-arnaudville.org.
