Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Music Festival
Yambilee Arena and Festival Grounds 1939 West Landry Street, Opelousas, Louisiana
Nestled in the heart of Cajun Country, it's no surprise that the oldest Zydeco festival is taking place in Opelousas for its 36th year. The Southern Development Foundation has organized a slew of delicious Creole and Cajun food, plenty of cold beer and beverages, arts and crafts, a black pot cook-off, and of course a Zydeco parade, Zydeco breakfast, and as much Zydeco music as your Acadian heart can handle. This year's musical lineup includes Grammy winner Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, Nathan Williams and Zydeco Cha Cha, and Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie. Doors to the Yambilee Fairgrounds open at noon. $15 for adults, $5 for kids under 12 at the gate. zydeco.org.
