Non-profit Shotgun Cinema continues its valiant efforts to vitalize New Orleans' film-going scene with its third annual documentary film festival, True Orleans. Come to see gripping and masterfully cinematic nonfiction films by acclaimed local and national directors, or engage in dialogue with other filmmakers and appreciators about industry ethics, technology, or other cultural storytelling methods. Films screened throughout the three-day event at Broad Theater in Mid-City range from Kate Plays Christine, wherein director Robert Green follows actress Kate Lyn Sheil after she is cast in a made-for-TV movie as Christine Chubbock, the Florida newscaster who committed suicide on air in 1974; to Kedi, a lighthearted film documenting Istanbul's street cats.
