Hosted annually by the United Houma Nation Vocational Rehabilitation Program, the Celebrating Abilities Powwow is simultaneously a celebration of the nation's distinct cultural heritage and an effort to raise awareness of the contributions individuals with disabilities bring to our communities. This year places a special focus on Autism Awareness. The event is a celebration brought forth by singing ancestral Houma songs, performing traditional dances, food sharing, and supporting local artisans selling their wares. Begins at 11 am each day; ends at 10 pm Saturday, 4 pm Sunday. Free. Details at the United Houma Nation Powwow Facebook Page.
