Unveiling of Howe Institute Marker

The Iberia African American Historical Society is unveiling a marker commemorating the history of Howe Institute, one of the earliest schools for Black Students in Iberia Parish. Booker T. Washington scholar Dr. Michael Bieze will give a keynote address, as the Howe Institute was a stop on Washington's farewell tour. Dr. Tiffany Caesar will also speak on the subject of education. 10 am at St. Paul Congregational Church in New Iberia. Free, including lunch, though a $10 donation for the lunch is suggested.
