Virtual Artist Workshop: Sherry Owens

Explore the medium of sculpture, deepening our understanding of the Ogden's exhibition BUILT: Sculptural Art from the Permanent Collection, through a series of workshops. Each session will include an in-depth discussion with an artist from the exhibition, followed by an art-making workshop led by the artist. In April, join artist Sherry Owens in exploring simple methods of sculpture-making using collected sticks and investigating ways to join parts using wrapping and binding.
Materials are not provided , so students are encouraged to bring the following supplies:
- Thirty or more sticks in an assortment of shapes and sizes up to one inch diameter and a maximum of eighteen inches long
- Pruning shears/nippers/loppers
- Small hand saw (optional)
- Cordless drill and drill bits (optional)
- Needle nose pliers/regular pliers
- Wire cutters
- Scissors
- Malleable wire: baling copper, aluminum, florist, telephone
- Paper/wire twist ties, zip ties
- String, twine, cord, yarn, crochet thread, ribbon
