What is Creole?
Jeanerette Museum 500 East Main Street, Jeanerette, Louisiana 70544
The Jeanerette Museum history talk "What is Creole?" will explore the Creole world—a place where cooks tempt taste buds with gumbo and crawfish, where storytellers mesmerize young and old with tales tied to three continents, and where musicians and dancers pulsate to the rhythms of accordions and rub boards. Learn more about the term "Créole" and why descendants of Louisiana’s native-born population have alternately claimed or denied Creole identity, along with how this groups' contributions still impact South Louisiana today. Free; seating may be limited and is taken on a first come, first serve basis. 6 pm. jeanerettemuseum.com.
