February at Yes We Cannibal
Yes We Cannibal 1600 Government St, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
Yes We Cannibal continues to raise the stakes for exhibiting genre-blurring, boundary-pushing art in Baton Rouge with the following February programming:
February 1: An evening of experimental electroacoustic sound art with Ipek Eginli, a native of Turkey. Collaborating with Sarah Burke, a multi–instrumentalist singer–songwriter, and Alex Cook, a prolific Baton Rouge singer/songwriter (and longtime Country Roads contributor), this event showcases the fusion of synthesis, voice techniques, and piano. 8 pm. Free.
February 15: Screening and panel discussion with artist Curtis Schreier and curator Liz Flyntz at LSU School of Art. More information to come. Free.
February 17: Discover the visionary designs of Curtis Schreier, a member of the 1970s utopian architecture salon The Ant Farm, in the Swamp Alps exhibition on display until March 24, 2024. Guest-curated by Liz Flyntz, the show features a 1:6 scale model envisioning the future of Louisiana's oil industry with an artificial "Alps" made from abandoned oil derricks. Don't miss the opening reception on Saturday, February 17, 6 pm–9 pm. Free.
February 20: Join the New York-based drummer Chris Corsano, known for his avant-garde contributions, in collaboration with Dylan Burchett, Erin Demastes, and Ethan Campa. You can expect to hear jazz and avant–rock intersect with more experimental sounds. 8 pm. Free.
