Author and historian Dr. Robert May has done extensive research on what the Christmas experience was like for those enslaved in New Orleans prior to the Civil War. He documents this troubling history and the ways it is often misinterpreted in his book Yuletide in Dixie: Slavery, Christmas, and Southern Memory, and will enlighten an audience on the subject at an upcoming online presentation from the Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses. 6 pm.
