Winecups.
A most whimsical, low-growing native mallow, winecups are an early spring showstopper. Naturally, they creep along the Earth's floor as a beautiful ground cover, offering intense pops of floral fuchsia along their way. This perennial thrives in full sun and dry conditions, making it easy to grow, as well as an excellent native choice for planters and hanging baskets. The petite height of this flower makes it a lovely border perennial, cascading over garden edges or in giant masses up front and center. It does well in sandy soils and those rough gravely areas of your city yard, where nothing else seems to want to grow. And if you are so lucky, she may resurrect with more blooms late summer as the dog days begin to fade.
