    An image from a 1906 blue book, with French translating to “Shame on him who thinks badly of it.” The phrase, which appears on the royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom, supposedly has its origin in an encounter between King Edward III and Joan of Kent, whose marital adventures made her a scandal in medieval England.
