The thing about a road trip is that it’s expansive, right? It’s not about a single place, a single destination, a single roadside attraction—but all of it, together, rushing by in a wondrous tapestry of world. Pineville artist Matt Dawson gets it, which is why we reached out to him to create this custom work of art illustrating the imagination of the Miss-Lou roadtripper.
In his tableau, you find yourself passing over the mysterious swamps of the Atchafalaya, the state capitol rising tall over everything. There’s the national forest and Tiger Stadium and so many crawfish fields, farmers breaking the glass water to retrieve their traps. The sun sets against all of it, painting the promise of the road with the hope of tomorrow. And you just keep driving, discovering new corners of this weird and wonderful region we call home.
