Since Global Wildlife Center first began welcoming visitors in 1991, memberships have been the lifeblood of the organization, supporting conservation efforts both locally and worldwide. With the purchase of a Global Wildlife Center membership, families can experience the dynamic changing of the seasons and the intriguing animal behaviors that accompany them, during unlimited safari wagon tours available year-round.
During autumn, Global Wildlife Center’s rolling hills in the Folsom countryside become the backdrop for dominance displays that include the clatter of antlers and dust flying as members of five deer species compete for the attention of the fairer sex during the “rut” season. As temperatures drop, the level of friskiness increases. Many species in addition to the deer are particularly active during cooler weather.
Exotic and endangered species such as reticulated giraffes, Grant's zebras, and common elands enjoy free range of over 900 acres of the preserve.
Wintertime tours offer great opportunities to get acquainted with Global Wildlife’s exotic wildlife; the less crowded nature of the preserve during the cooler months makes engaging, up-close animal experiences easily accessible for members and guests alike. Lucky visitors might also witness “feed-ups,” when the Animal Care team broadcasts hundreds of pounds of food daily from a tractor and the animals run together to enjoy a communal meal. Large bales of hay also provide for comical photo ops, as the animals frequently festoon their antlers or horns with large swaths of hay to stand out from the herd.
During spring and summertime, Global Wildlife’s fields fill with new babies, particularly tiny fallow deer and Indian blackbuck, llamas and alpacas. Summer is also special, since it’s the season when the preserve’s Pere David deer give birth. Classified as extinct in the wild, this distinctive species flourishes in the protected Global Wildlife preserve, with dozens of births each season.
At the preserve, visitors have the unique experience of observing the natural interactions of axis deer.
Multiple generations of families have now become members of Global Wildlife Center, and in addition to unlimited safari tours, enjoy priority boarding, a 10% discount and invitations to Members Events like the popular Fall Fest. Learn more at https://globalwildlife.com/memberships/
