Do you remember how, as kids, we dreamed of the day we’d be done with school?
Back then, it was hard to appreciate what we had: a built-in community, a steady rhythm of new discoveries, and daily encouragement to remain curious. All we wanted back then was the independence promised by adulthood.
The Best of Both Worlds
Imagine not having to choose. This spring, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at LSU is inviting adults ages fifty and older to rekindle their love of learning—this time with the freedom that being a grown-up offers.
Imagine what it is to be a student, simply for the sake of discovery! When you learn with OLLI at LSU, you choose the courses you’re most interested in. There are no grades, no tests, no long-term commitments. One day you might find yourself seated in a classroom exploring Louisiana history; on another, you’re gliding across a dancefloor, or roaming the trails of a nearby nature preserve with an expert guide by your side. Dive deeper into an existing passion or venture into entirely new territory. Class topics range from wellness and sports to painting workshops and historical lectures. You might choose to become an accomplished vegetable gardener, or the family sommelier. Flex your history buff biceps or do a deep dive into current world affairs.

Another benefit: OLLI at LSU members join a vibrant community of like-minded learners—people who share curiosities, passions, and hobbies. Conversations continue beyond the classroom, and shared experiences foster lasting connections. It’s a discussion group, a walking club, a creative outlet, and a social circle, all rolled into one.
Engaging classes are offered through OLLI at LSU’s four chapters – Crescent City (New Orleans & Metairie), Camellia City (Covington & Slidell), Felicianas (St. Francisville & New Roads) and Lagniappe (Baton Rouge) – allowing members to learn close to home while still being part of the broader OLLI at LSU community.
There’s never been a better time to dip your toes into the world of learning at OLLI at LSU. For Spring 2026, new members can take advantage of the special spring membership for just $25, valid through June 30th, 2026. Once a member, you’ll have access to register for all Spring 2026 courses across all four OLLI at LSU Chapters.
Don’t wait too long, though—spots fill up fast! Early course registration is open from January 26–February 8. Classes begin on February 23.
