The year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence – our 250th birthday, if you will. Throughout the year, patriots across all 50 states are paying homage to their country, and in Monroe, Louisiana, that means more than just fireworks in the sky.
Enter the Red, White, and Blue Air Show, returning to the Monroe Regional Airport from May 1—3. Presented by the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum of Louisiana, this annual air show honors America’s heroes with a thrilling program that features military aircraft, historic warbirds, and astounding aerial performances. A stellar lineup of aviation performers, including wingwalkers, aerobatic teams, and demonstrations by historic aircraft will light up the skies to captivate earthbound audiences below.
Featured aircraft are living testaments to the legacy of US aviation innovation. Star attractions in 2026 include Frank Kimmel flying his F4U-5 Corsair. One of the most recognizable and respected aircraft in American naval aviation history, the Corsair is known for its distinctive inverted gull wings and powerful performance—specs that saw it play critical roles during both World War II and the Korean War.
The Titan Aerobatic Team flies carefully choreographed aerobatic sequences in close formation, demanding ferocious teamwork, discipline, and aerodynamic control. Their performances demonstrate the coordination and trust required to execute synchronized maneuvers at high speed and altitude.
“Everyone should be excited about celebrating the 250th anniversary of the country,” said Nell Calloway, CEO of the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum. “To make it special this year, we are incorporating a drone performance for the first time ever, and we’ll have a big patriotic finale that pays tribute to our country’s 250 years.”
Military history enthusiasts will enjoy Friday night’s opening reception, which will feature WWII-era planes, and paratroopers reenacting highlights of aviation progress throughout historic conflicts, up to and including current-day aircraft capabilities.
“Every year we have different acts, but some return every year because they’re so popular,” said Calloway.
