At God’s Country RV Resort, camping gets a luxury upgrade in the form of accommodations like rustic-chic glamping tents, Conestoga wagons, and old-school stone and log cabins. It’s a way to experience open-air escapes, but with air conditioning; camp eats, with refrigeration. And no sleeping bags needed.
Located near Soda Lake Wildlife Management Area, the resort offers a respite in nature only minutes from downtown Shreveport. During your stay, you can take a hike on one of the nature trails, cool off with a swim in the pool, and spend evenings roasting marshmallows over a fire pit. Kids will love the giant jumping pillows, stocked fishing ponds, and pedal-powered duck boats. There’s even an indoor arcade with pool tables, air hockey, and skeeball—as well as an outdoor covered playground and disc golf. Even your fur baby can join in the fun at the dog park.
“It’s a great, family-oriented place that offers a unique glamping experience,” said Nannette Halvorsen, District Manager for Streamside Parks, which owns God’s Country Resort. “And for those who live in the area, it’s a great place to come out and stay for a weekend getaway—a staycation that gets you out of the house without traveling too far.”
Conestoga wagons and teepees sleep four, with a king-size bed and a set of bunks in each. Restroom and shower facilities are nearby. The cabins sleep between four and eight people and come complete with bathrooms and a kitchen. Have your own RV? There are eighty-seven sites to choose between.
The Eagle’s Nest Lodge accommodates eight guests, while the Grand Lodge, the former home of the original owners, holds up to twelve people and boasts a private swimming pool with a waterfall and slide. Vacationers staying at Grand Lodge are also treated to an outdoor kitchen, a hot tub, and private playground.
Day passes are also offered for those wanting to access activities like the playgrounds, disc golf, fishing ponds, and pavilions without staying the night. For more information on lodging and resort amenities, visit God’s Country Resort.
